Mephisto Phoenix Module Exclusive Edition

In our succesful cooperation with Millennium 2000, Phoenix Chess Systems is proud to announce the coming immediate release for the Phoenix Exclusive Edition (2nd generation). The renewed module is per today available for ordering.

Customers who – were and are – interested, ordering can be done through the Millennium web shop. You can indicate that you wish the system ordered from Phoenix Chess System by just enter the redeem code “Phoenix” (which results in a 1 cent discount as acknowledgement). By ordering in this way, you support the efforts from Phoenix Chess Systems to work continuously on new innovations.

Future benefits from Phoenix Chess Systems
(ONLY by using the redeem code “Phoenix”)

We will add a great new book made by Jeroen Noomen, a world wide known book programmer from the Netherlands before end of this year 2025. Also we promise that during 2026 we will add 4 extra emulations free of charge, selected by Egbert Rapp, known for his great testing for Emulations, including the announced Novag Constellation Expert. Where possible we will also work on adding open source engines and extra books. And lastly you will receive a signed certificate from Phoenix Chess Systems through Postal Services.

We always strive to surprise our public and for this already great chess system, we can now offer the next step in performance. This Phoenix Exclusive is identical to the regular system, but is simply (more than) twice faster for the native engines and the emulations will run at more than double the current speeds.

Klingenberg Tournament

During the weekend I will be attending the Klingenberg Tournament.

I will bring the tools to perform some updates when requested for Phoenix Module, Revelation Board and Revelation Module sets. Also I will bring the remaining stock for an update processor for the regular Revelation II Board, please be advised that these are no longer available in the near future. This will update to the Anniversary edition. Also I will have two Phoenix Modules and two 40 cm boards with me and a Reflection II set. These will also be offered with a very attractive discount.

Lastly, I will take a Revelation Black Edition board with me. This board will be complemented by the black and white Classic piece set. This board is of B quality, and has a small cosmetic problem at the far right of the chess board surface, therefore this will also be sold with an attractive discount.

Please inform me if you have questions. Looking forwar in meeting the collectrors again at this tournament.

Reflection II Module Set

We have stock again for the Reflection module with the two module concept. When we introduced the Reflection module three years ago, we received feedback that reading the small display was for some of our customers not easy to do. Furhermore touch operation was asked, to make it easier to use the emulations without the use of the virtual keyboard. Both are now integrated in the set. The second larger LCD display module contains touch and has twice the readability.

The two screens , left : lcd module, right : cpu module.

London, Vancouver, Lyon, Portorose, Almeria, Novag Diablo, Super expert B and C, Glasgow, Amsterdam, Dallas, Roma, Polgar(5 and 10), MM5, MM4, Rebel, Montreux, Risc2500, Fidelity V2, Saitek Corona, Mephisto Nigel Short, Mephisto Milano, Sphinx 40 and the Novag Robot Adversary.

Price for this set is 1499 Euro.

Novag Robot Adversary, arm is also emulated.
Fidelity V2, running at 400 MIPS. This almost equals the V11 at 100 Mhz (68060).

For the current Reflection module owners, you can acquire the software upgrade to all these emulations. This update is through an SDcard exchange. We will release an instruction video of how to do this yourself.

Price for the SDcard update is 249 Euro.

Also for current Reflection module owners, you can acquire the additional larger LCD display module. For this the software upgrade is needed and it depends on the Reflection build version you have. This is decisive if you can use the touch option on the additional display.

You can check this youself. By removing the back plate of the module you can see if the PCB is black or green. Please be careful not to take out the PCB as the LCD is connected to it, and you easily loosen it.

Green : Touch option cannot be enabled.
Black : Touch option can be enabled, but we need the module for this to solder some jumpers.

Price for SDcard update and the new LCD module 399 Euro.

The new Reflection II will be serialised and has a named certificate from Phoenix Chess Systems.

You can order through e-mail.

Mephisto Phoenix: Update to version 4.01B available

A new release will be published tomorrow, the 12th of November, at 17:30. It is a small release with Stockfish 16, we solved a bug with the Portorose emulator and added a display option where you can choose to show (not show) the score of the position and show (blank) the score evaluaition bar. We also changed the output for the pgn files to be better usable by the main platforms. We also chose to set the speed back to 100% when a new engine is selected. Information on this subject will also be released by Millennium.

Mephisto Phoenix: First update to version 4.01A available

We’ve been working hard for the last few months – not only on the first update for your Phoenix, but also on collecting feedback, looking at ways to implement new features, and last but not least, on an update and server structure to provide you with regular updates in the future.

With this update you get the following new features:

Tablebases support for Komodo 14.5, Stockfish 15 and Komodo Dragon 3:
For this we have installed the popular Syzygy endgame databases on the Phoenix. You can activate them in the chess settings of the above mentioned engines. This makes the Phoenix the first commercial chess computer ever to allow the use of tablebases.

Extension of the emulator for many more chess computer emulations:
We have adapted the emulator in the “Play Retro Chess” mode of the Phoenix so that you can now install several other emulations on your own. All you need is the correct ROM files.
Information on this subject will be released by Millennium.

The first license upgrade starts!

The first license upgrade brings you 3 more high-end engines for the “Play against Computer” mode: Komodo Dragon 3, Leela Zero and Ginkgo, the engine known from the popular Power Fritz 18. All 3 programs have become world champions in computer chess in Vienna in late summer 2022.

Please note that the previous installation of version 4.01A is a prerequisite for the update to be delivered to your Phoenix.

Mephisto Phoenix Module and Tournament Chessboard Set (M924/English)

Phoenix Chess Computer with Tournament Sized Chess Board

The Mephisto Phoenix is a UCI based multi-engine chess computer, which provides access to a huge variety in chess gaming. With Shredder Neuronal and Stockfish NNUE, you see the world’s first dedicated chess computer using most modern neuronal engine technologies.

The module in its modern design comes with a large color touch screen made from real glass, matching its wooden board perfectly. Accompanied by the well-structured touch menu system it is meant to be the perfect home station for chess lovers of all ages, all playing strengths and all experience levels.

Most powerful chess computer of all times

The Phoenix comes with 4 different Top-Class Engines on Board: Shredder 13.5, Komodo 14.1, Hiarcs 14.2 and Stockfish 15 NNUE. Starting from a very simple level, which is also suitable for absolute beginners, the system can reach a maximum performance of over 3400 ELO. In fact, there are countless options to adjust the playing strength to your individual needs. The system covers the widest playing strength range ever provided by a chess computer.

Shredder offers a highly interesting new function with its fully automatic self-adapting playing strength with ELO rating. In this way you can continuously monitor your progress and see how much you have improved through training with the computer.

The evaluation bar beside the chess board tells you at first glance how the engine rates the position. Any blunders are quickly noticed that way and you always have a feeling on how good you do.

Great opening training per your needs

The machine comes with some different opening books: The standard one by Mark Uniacke provides you with more than 1.000.000 positions, all from master play. This is the biggest opening book ever provided by a dedicated chess computer.

The system is expanded with 23 classical chess computer emulations running at a high speed. Most remarkable is the “Mephisto Glasgow”, the legendary world championship program of 1984 – which runs on the MEPHISTO PHOENIX system at a speed of approx. 66 times faster than the original machine of the time.

With the speed bar you easily control the emulation speed or set it to the speed of the original chess computer, button and display layout follows the originals.

Updates for the System come via WIFI directly on the unit, and if you purchase additional software in the computerchess.com webstore it is installed as easy as with the press of one button.

The Mephisto Phoenix is the right unit for you if you

  • Wish to own the most powerful chess computer ever made, building a bridge between past glory days and todays modern style of playing chess
  • Are interested in modern engine technologies, e.g. NNUE Technology and see how they evaluate
  • Like to play with retro chess computers and to see how these programs perform on a modern hardware

MEPHISTO (Tournament Style) Sensor Board

The MEPHISTO Tournament sized board is a very flat sensor board with move indication by 81 single field LEDs as well as extremely comfortable fully automatic piece recognition. The chess board is Mephisto branded as well and board colors are finetuned to match the module and the pieces. The noble sensor board convinces by its high recognition speed and reliability. During the game, it is not necessary to look at the display of the chess computer due to the brightly lit 4 LEDs per playing field.
